Tungsten Electrodes for TIG Welding

Tungsten electrodes are used when arc welding with the Tungsten Inert gas (TIG) process or when plasma welding. In both processes the electrode, arc and weld pool are protected from atmospheric contamination by an inert gas. A tungsten electrode is used because it can withstand very high temperatures with minimal melting or erosion. Tungsten electrodes are made by powder metallurgy and are formed to size after sintering.

Gold plated tungsten wire means tungsten wire coated with a layer of gold. Gold plated tungsten rhenium wire is tungsten rhenium wire with gold plated. Tungsten wire and tungsten rhenium wire with gold plated have similar appearance, but different material content. And the properties of tungsten wire and tungsten rhenium wire are differing from each other.

Shaped Tungsten Needle

Generally speaking, tungsten needles are needles like small rod with the same diameter at the both ends. However, there are two special shapes, which are like tungsten needles with holes and tungsten needles with tips.

Tungsten needle with tips is processed with much more advanced technology and sheer difficulty. Tip of tungsten needle is shaped with the set angel, such as 23, 19 and so on. following is a picture to show the tipped or shaped tungsten needle.

Oil price climbs to a high height, tungsten price is influenced

In March, 2012, China has witnessed a new height of oil, which made a breakthough of 8RMB/L. It has been the record the oil price never appeared in China. As war in middle east and the GDP level in China, the price would be higher and higher, someone extimated.

It has been a great influence on pure tungsten processing, for oil is the energy in during processing of tungsten products. The price of pure tungsten products would be adjusted in the near future.
