Thoriated Tungsten Electrode WT30

Introduction

Welding performance of thoriated tungsten electrode is one of the best electrodes of the tungsten electrodes, whose work function is relatively small. It can improve environmental pollution to some extent caused by welding, and it has a strong current carrying capacity, easily to arc with long life time. WT30 electrodes are silver-white metal rod, the electrode tip is purple.

Charateristic

Although rare earth thorium element of this type electrode is radioactive, because its radiological hazard belongs to a low one, so its welding performance will be better than the other alloy electrode, therefore, many users still choose to use thorium tungsten electrodes. Tungsten content of WT30 electrodes is larger than 96.5%. During welding, this type of electrode has an excellent energy-saving effect, the arc current relative decline 20-50%, thanks to low arcing current, it is hard to splashing.

Application

Thorium tungsten electrode is widely used in carbon and stainless steel. Thorium tungsten electrode has a strong electron emission, and its electron work function is generally at 2.7eV, with the large current density and stable arc burning, so it also used in DC of welding.
