Tungsten Iridium Stream Mouth

Tungsten iridium stream mouth is made of a body of tungsten and inserted a tube made of iridium, instead of the whole part to be an alloy of tungsten and iridium.

Iridium tube is used because of its advantages of anti-corrosion, high erosion resistance, insoluble in acids, good plasticity, and high elasticity modulus. And the body of tungsten is used also takes of its high density over 17.7g/cm3, high corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high erosion resistance to lots of acids.

Owing to these good properties, the tube is applied together with the body of tungsten part to be used in many industries, such as refractory ceramics, rare earth metal smelting, induction furnace heating and quartz glass melting.

Requirements of Tungsten and Iridium 

1.0 Density of tungsten body
The density of tungsten should be ≥17.7g/cm3.
2.0Bonding strength
3.0The bonding strength of tungsten and iridium tube should pass the testing of keeping iridium tube 10s without dropping under 1000g weight.
4.0 Appearance
The product appearance should be clean, smooth, no breakage, no holes, no deformation and other drawbacks.
The inner side of iridium tube should be smooth, no holes, no breakage and other drawbacks.

Bonding Strength Testing Method

The bonding of tungsten body and iridium tube has been the most difficult production process for the stream mouth. If the part is not bonded well, the tube is easily dropped, and the lifetime of the stream mouth is shortened, installation times are increased, production time is shortened, too. As a result, the manufacturing cost is going up a lot. Therefore, the dealing of the bonding has been very important.

The testing steps are putting the finished stream mouth on the platform as following, mouth is on the surface of platform, adding 1000g weight on the top of iridium tube, and keeping the weight 10s.
