1.0    Mechanical production

Tungsten Stream Mouth Chinese Standard

The current tungsten stream mouth Chinese standard refers to People's Republic of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Standard YS/T 854-2012 Tungsten Stream Mouth, which is issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China.

1.Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, quality certificate and contract (or order) content on tungsten stream mouth.
This standard applies to the tungsten stream mouth which is made by powder metallurgy process and applied to aluminum silicate refractory fiber manufacturing industry.

Tungsten Iridium Stream Mouth

Tungsten iridium stream mouth is made of a body of tungsten and inserted a tube made of iridium, instead of the whole part to be an alloy of tungsten and iridium.

Iridium tube is used because of its advantages of anti-corrosion, high erosion resistance, insoluble in acids, good plasticity, and high elasticity modulus. And the body of tungsten is used also takes of its high density over 17.7g/cm3, high corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high erosion resistance to lots of acids.

Owing to these good properties, the tube is applied together with the body of tungsten part to be used in many industries, such as refractory ceramics, rare earth metal smelting, induction furnace heating and quartz glass melting.

Requirements of Tungsten and Iridium 

1.0 Density of tungsten body
The density of tungsten should be ≥17.7g/cm3.
2.0Bonding strength
3.0The bonding strength of tungsten and iridium tube should pass the testing of keeping iridium tube 10s without dropping under 1000g weight.
4.0 Appearance
The product appearance should be clean, smooth, no breakage, no holes, no deformation and other drawbacks.
The inner side of iridium tube should be smooth, no holes, no breakage and other drawbacks.

Bonding Strength Testing Method

The bonding of tungsten body and iridium tube has been the most difficult production process for the stream mouth. If the part is not bonded well, the tube is easily dropped, and the lifetime of the stream mouth is shortened, installation times are increased, production time is shortened, too. As a result, the manufacturing cost is going up a lot. Therefore, the dealing of the bonding has been very important.

The testing steps are putting the finished stream mouth on the platform as following, mouth is on the surface of platform, adding 1000g weight on the top of iridium tube, and keeping the weight 10s.

The card is made as thinner as 0.3mm, which is not as easy for tungsten as for tungsten is a refractory metal, it is made by powder metallurgy, and easily to make with breakage during forging. The thinner, the more difficult. Since we designed the tungsten card to be as similar as the name card and luggage card in the appearance, we try and try, and finally the thin sheet is made out. Under the great difficulty, even though we have been producing the thin sheet, we still can not produce large size, such as 500mm width, what we can manufacture is much smaller, but they are enough for us to make out this card. After thin sheet, we use wire cutting to cut the size as the name card of 90mmx50mm, and luggage card is much smaller 90mmx25mm. Surely these two sizes are not for all, they can be customized to similar ones.

After the card is shaped with the designed sizes, we deliver them to engrave, which can be engraved in black or white. As we also design with a QR code, we choose black to assure the code can be scanned. As for the engraving is applied laser engraving, an AI image is required, so that the engraved content can be clear. Content of names, telephones, websites, emails are tested, and they are all available to be engrave on the card, surely if you have got an AI image of company logo, they can also be typed on the surface.

K Doped Tungsten Electrode

It has been a very popular situation for our company that our customers are inquiring a product, whose chemicals are unknown for both sides. The only one our customers know is the material related to tungsten. However, as for the large category of tungsten, it is difficult to provide a suitable material with such information, so that we have to find out a solution for that.

This time, we also encounter the same issue. We get a sample from our clients, and arrange the testing. As for tungsten is a refractory metal, which has been difficult to be used chemical method, we only test in by metal element analyzer. The testing result is that the material is with over 99.85% tungsten. Therefore, we recommend it as pure tungsten or K doped tungsten. 

Most of the customers are familiar with K doped tungsten wire but not electrode, actually K doped tungsten electrode is with the same chemical as the wire and the same properties, which is to decrease the deformation at high temperature. K is doped in the process of reduction from tungsten oxide to tungsten powder, which can assure the mixing result of the powder. During forging, as for the crystal of K is larger than tungsten, they are kept in the rod and forged together with tungsten. With content of 30~90ppm K, higher content, denser the K bubble, and better anti-deformation property. Following is an image showing the relationship between K content and K bubble clearly. 

There is a factor we need to point out that, during the production, the content of K is not as higher as better, as for K is also can be recommended as impurities, the forging process is influenced if the K is very high, such as higher than 120ppm, then the quality is influenced, for the bubble is existed in the rod and will be horizontal growing. Therefore, the ideal content of K doped is controlled in 30~90ppm for both wire and rod.

Copper Bonded Tungsten Copper High Voltage Contact

With the development of high speed railway both in China and whole world wide, the application of high voltage related equipment has been increasing largely. High voltage contact is one of them. As for the contact of the electricity will result in high temperature and electricity conductivity, the choice of material have been very important. 

1.0  Hardness. Suitable hardness makes the larger contact, lower resistance, and also can lower down the contact temperature, decrease contact bonding, increase the wear resistance and longer the lifetime.

2.0  Electricity property. High electricity conductivity is a significant factor to connect the electricity system for the whole equipment operation. However, as for the contact momentary will direct into high temperature, therefore, the material requires high electricity conductivity and high temperature resistance, which assures the working and the contact will not be melted.

3.0  Thermal conductivity. The connection of electric contact will release high heat, which requires the material with high thermal conductivity, so that the heat can be conducted, but not gathered in the contact area and increase the high temperature of the point.

4.0  Chemical property. The contact should be with stable chemical properties, gas corrosion resistance and high volatility.

Considering the above factors, copper tungsten is chosen for it has owned all the above advantages, however, as for its thermal conductivity is still not enough for high voltage industry, it is welded on the copper part. Furthermore, in order to improve the electricity conductivity, the surface is always coated with a layer of silver.

 

This silver coated copper bonded tungsten copper contact is the best material for high voltage industry. The bonded part is applied both the moving and static contacts. Among them, the tungsten copper part can also be made with different contents, and 70W30Cu and 80W20Cu are used most widely.
