As world wide known uses of rhenium, it has been an added element for tungsten rhenium products, such as tungsten rhenium wire, tungsten rhenium rod, tungsten rhenium block. Regularly, with rhenium, tungsten products can be increased its tensility. Rhenium has been expensive material, and in tungsten rhenium alloy products, it is only with 3%, 5% or more, but not more than 30% rhenium. Products made of rhenium only has been so rare.
But as for continous rearch on aircraft, Chinese has found the great use of rhenium, such as rhenium used in intercepter fighter.
As reported by USA Aviation & Space Technology Weekly, China has been inquire large quantity of rhenium. Rhenium is chosen heat resistance material for turbine blades, assembly in the aircraft. The inquiry will begin in 2016, and now they has been save them in stock and manufacutre or improve the intercepter fighter engine.
The habit of Chinese is not only influenced on military, but also western aero gas turbine engine manufacturers, for they are truely in use of rare earth rhenium for most of their important parts.
The reporter is also getting the information that the demand will rised to 5tons/year since 2016, which has constitues 10% of world wide demand. as China rhenium yield is only 2tons/year, then it has to change its purchasing route from other country.
As a result, rhenium will lead China to a new era in aircraft and more is for China military defense.
